The 1st time I tried to take Real Analysis (required course for math majors), I couldn't understand anything, hated it, & dropped the class. A year later, I tried again with a different prof, and I loved it, got an A, & then focused on it in my PhD.
Glad I'm not the only one :) I'm literally re-reading Shannon's Mathematical Theory of Communication right now 🤣 I've not read many deep learning papers of late even and am looking at early establishing papers and history in other fields.
